What happens?
What happens when you die?
I think the afterlife is best represented by an empty street. You walk past old memories and they start replaying through your mind. It will take you a while to realize that you are walking down memory lane except the memories turn to dreams until you are screaming from all the nightmares occupying your caged heart. This repeats every day until the nightmares are no longer just from your past life and you are running as fast as you can but the end of the street is getting further away. One day you will collapse and there will be nothing but darkness for the rest of eternity.
What happens to the people around you when you die?
Some of them will keep living life like you never existed and they will pass people who are broken from your absence with a sympathetic smile without any words being said. The people who think they cared about you will cry and cry and cry but they will never truly sob the way you did because of their cruel words that were spoken in hushed whispers behind your back. Evry word of gossip felt like a punch to the gut. All their hate built into a chant 'SAY GOODBYE, YOU'RE GONNA DIE TONIGHT, JUST END IT ALL' The voices never stop. They are the only ones that kept their promise to stay until the end. The people who cry at your funeral even though they are the reason you are in a casket will leave you to wonder in all these memories
DID
THEY
SEE
ME
BREAK?
I SCREAMED. I CRIED. I BEGGED. I DIED. THERE IS NOTHING BUT SILENCE.
Maybe I wasn't loud enough. I just wished they could have seen that I was in pieces before I died.
These words were your last thoughts before you died. And to think you would still be here if someone had come to tuck you in that night instead of letting you sleep in the cold.
